Borrow Direct

 

Borrow Direct (BD) provides access to BOOKS not in the Dartmouth College collection - as well as to books that are currently unavailable from the Dartmouth collection (checked out, on reserve, in process, missing, on order, or non-circulating).

Borrow Direct provides direct access to the combined Library catalogs of:
Brown University • Columbia University • Cornell University • Princeton University • University of Pennsylvania •Yale University

** Your Dartmouth ID is your "Patron ID" **
                No need to register

Submit requests:

* Click on the DartDoc image above.
* At the Library Home Page - look under FIND IT
* In the Library Catalog - look for the Can't find it? box on the right side of the screen.

* In BD search for books by Author, Title, or ISBN (there is no Keyword searching)
* At the search results - click on the Request button.
* Verify your Name.
* Choose a Pickup Location.
* Scroll down and click on Submit Request.

When the book arrives you're notified by e-mail.

Borrow Direct delivers most book requests to Dartmouth within 4 business days.

 
 

DartDoc

 

You can request material NOT OWNED by the Dartmouth College Library through this interlibrary loan service. The Library will try and obtain material of any type or format – the lending library chooses to honor our request, or not.

** First time users must Register (only once) and create a User Name and Password **

Submit requests:

* Click on the DartDoc image above.
* At the Library Home Page - look under FIND IT
* In the Library Catalog - look for the Can't find it? box on the right side of the screen.


* ILL takes a certain amount of time, approximately  7-10 days for microforms, books, or other volumes. Less time for journal articles.
* Include a complete citation for the material:
 Books: author, title, publisher, date of publication.
 Articles: author, article title, journal title, volume no., pages, date of publication.
  – it speeds the process at our end and insures the lending library will supply the correct item(s).
