Preprint & Eprint Sources
Preprint or eprint services are good sources of the most current unpublished papers in some fields in physics and astronomy. According to the Department of Energy, "preprints are manuscripts intended for publication that have not yet been published but may have been reviewed and accepted for publication; or they may be in the process of being circulated for comment prior to publication."
- ArXiv.org - Astrophysics section Maintained and operated by the Cornell University Library, and partially funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), arXiv.org is the major preprint archive in physics and related fields, and includes the ASTROPHYSICS SECTION.
- Astroweb (list of preprint sites) Astroweb is a collection of pointers to astronomy-related information available on the Internet. The database is maintained by professional astronomers at 7 institutions.
- E-print Network (DOE/OSTI) Using this gateway provided by the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), you can search and link to almost 30,000 web sites and databases with scientific or technical e-print documents.
- STScI Space Telescope Electronic Preprints (STEP) Searchable database of preprints, maintained by the Space Telescope Science Institue (STScI).
- Virtual Technical Reports Center From the Engineering & Physical Sciences Library at The University of Maryland, a clearinghouse of links to technical reports, preprints, reprints, dissertations, theses, and research reports of all kinds, organized by institution.
