(Web of Science can be used in the familiar way of keyword searching for articles, but Web of Science also provides other methods for tracking down useful articles. Want a Tutorial?)
Example:
- Click on Web of SCIENCE
- Select Full Search
- Select General Search
- Enter the article title Tissue engineering of artificial organs (or The growth of tissue engineering or some other article title of a useful article) in TOPIC and use the pulldown to limit the search to the title.
- Click on the article title that is retrieved
- Click on "Cited References" to see all the sources used to author this article.
- Click on "Times Cited" to see who else used this article as a source.
- In the right menu use the "Related Records" feature to see other articles that share the articles references.
- Use the "Analyze Results" feature to determine important authors, journals and institutions.
